The "20/20 Vision" campaign seeks to continue an increase in alumni participation which began last year when the giving rate jumped from 36 percent to 39 percent.

Some 400 people gathered at the E&H football field to witness the groundbreaking on the stadium project. They listened to a line-up of speakers who praised Selfe and spoke of the importance of the stadium to his legacy and the E&H athletic program.

Emory & Henry was among the first five colleges chosen to provide selected first-year students from the institution’s Bonner Scholars program with personalized instruction.

Approximately 700 people attended the annual Charter Day festivities in the E&H Memorial Chapel, which included a speech by Dr. Don Jackson, a 1968 E&H graduate who continuously receives recognition as one of the best doctors in America.

More than half of the members of the Emory & Henry College Maintenance Department have pledged a gift toward the construction of the Fred Selfe Athletic Stadium, an effort they hope will encourage other E&H employees to give financial support to the E&H Prelude to Performance Campaign.

An interactive DVD that provides information about the $16.5 million Prelude to Performance campaign is available through the Emory & Henry Public Relations Office.

The $7 million project, which will be financed through a bond issuance, is part one of a two-part renovation of historic E&H buildings over the next two summers.
