Biliana Stoytcheva-Horissian

Professor Stoytcheva-Horissian is chair of what has been called one of the most unique undergraduate pre-professional programs in the country. She arrived at Emory & Henry in the Fall of 2002, after receiving her Ph.D. in Theatre Arts from the University of Oregon.
In Bulgaria, she was a member of Atelier 313, an experimental theatre company founded after the fall of the "iron curtain." Professor Stoytcheva-Horissian was also a member of the Magic Voices Company and performed in Europe, North America and Africa, her acting credits include Blood Wedding, Magic Voices, The School for Wives, Period of Adjustment, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Professor Stoytcheva-Horissian teaches classes in acting, stage movement, style, and auditions. She believes that having a new visual and performing arts center on campus "will provide students, faculty, staff, and community at large with a cultural venue to create and recreate cultural traditions, experience the arts to the fullest, and acknowledge the presence of the arts in our lives."Her research interests include Comic Acting, Commedia dell'Arte, Moliere, and Acting Pedagogy.
Since joining the E&H Theatre Department she has directed Uncle Vanya, You Can't Take it with You, Tartuffe, Servant of Two Masters, and served as musical director for At Last.
