Alex Addair, a memer of the E&H Class of 2016 from Rural Retreat, Va., majors in psychology and sociology, is involved with Student Government Association and is a member of the Housing and Grounds and Food Services Committees.
As a student at Emory & Henry, Addair is completing his first research project, which focuses on determining if religiosity, geographic location and/or socioeconomic status correlates with attitudes toward homosexuality, either positively or negatively. He found that religiosity had a substantial correlation with negative attitudes toward homosexuality. Through Alex’s research, he hopes that ultimately religious people will recognize and rethink their views of homosexuals.
Emory & Henry has helped me broaden my horizons. Before coming to Emory I never knew of the careers and fields that exist within the field of psychology. Emory & Henry offers courses that let you explore your interests and which led me to the study of sociology, which I greatly enjoy. All of this, along with working on this project, has helped me discover what I want to do with my future, which is research in the field of social psychology. -- Alex Addair
