The Emory & Greens serve as a resource of all things “green” around the campus community. We hope to inform, gather, and strengthen the community around environmentally-oriented events. The Greens support local farmers by hosting an annual Organic Cookout with most foods directly purchased from the local farmers’ market. They also sponsor and organize environmental film sessions, usually pertaining to a specific cause focused on each semester.
Over the years, the Greens have created both Lyceum and non-Lyceum programs for Mountaintop Removal and energy awareness, such as talks by Emory community leader Reese Shearer and a “True Cost of Coal” poster presentation by the Beehive Design Collective. Other ongoing programs include recycling and advocating waste minimization, as well as building and installing bird, owl, and bat boxes around campus.
