Zaneta Tutuh
Biology major Hometown: Alexandria, VA
Zaneta Tutuh finds personal growth in working with others. Most of her activities on campus involve working with or helping people.
It comes as no surprise then that this "people person" chose Emory & Henry, where students receive personal attention from professors and, in turn, provide it to others through various forms of service.
Zee, as she's known to her friends, is a biology major who participates in the service-oriented Bonner Scholars program; the Blue & Gold Society, an organization of student ambassadors; the Emory & Henry tutoring program; and Peer Educators.
Each of these organizations allows Zee to interact with people on a personal level, and the experience is making a difference. "I believe I am perfecting my people skills as well as my leadership skills," said Zee.
Although her biology studies will influence her professional goals (She plans to be a dentist), she hopes her enhanced communications skills will shape her success.
"I decided to come to Emory & Henry because I got much more attention from the institution than the other schools that accepted me," Zee said. "I could call offices with questions and would actually be able to talk to someone on the phone."
This kind of attention is also a part of the classroom experience, she said. "The professors take time to know the individuals in their classes. I have no problem going to them when I don't understand something or if I have a problem."
Zee looks forward to a future of professional and personal success, enhanced by a life of service that can positively affect the futures of others.
