Liberal Arts Foundation
At Emory & Henry, we believe that learning involves a lot more than memorizing mathematical formulas or recording important dates in history. That's why we place so much emphasis on our liberal arts core -- a series of classes that spans four years of a student's education.
Through courses in Western tradition, great books, ethical inquiry, global studies, religion, and courses from a variety of disciplines, our students develop a method of thought that is as important as the facts themselves. They evaluate ideas and concepts, dissect them by asking why and how, form their own perspectives and opinions. They establish a broad base of knowledge that spans across disciplines while they are learning how to approach new questions critically and logically. What our students learn in their core courses helps prepare them for the challenges they will face as they mature.
