The sound of Rodney's trumpet has reverberated throughout the world. Whether playing baroque piccolo trumpet or interpreting works commissioned especially for him, his artistry has been enthusiastically enjoyed inside of the United States and in such countries as France, Spain, Germany, England, Greece, Rumania, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. Vadym Kholodenko gave a blockbuster performance at the McGlothlin Center for the Arts. Kholodenko, a Ukrainian pianist and winner of the coveted gold medal at the Fourteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2013, played with the precision you would expect of a Van Cliburn winner. Kholodenko has emerged as one of the most musically dynamic and technically gifted performers of his generation, heralded for interpretations that are “impeccable, tasteful and vibrant, and also something more: imaginative” (Cleveland Plain Dealer). Currently, Kholodenko is forging an international career throughout Europe, Asia, and North America to great acclaim — including the Woodrow W.
