Applying for Graduation
Before you get prepared to walk across the stage, make sure that all of your academic requirements are complete. For candidates for the Bachelor of Art degree, 120 semester hours are required, and 124 hours are required for the bachelor of science degree.
All candidates for graduation must also achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale, and they must complete all general requirements, which include the first-year Western tradition program, the Lyceum program, three disciplinary studies (by the end of the sophomore year), one writing course, one computer course, one speech course, the Great Books course, one religion course, one value inquiry course, and one global studies course. For a more detailed listing of graduation requirements, consult the academic catalog.
If you anticipate problems related to grades or the course requirements for graduation, notify your advisor and the Registrar. If you can see problems coming ahead of time, you can take steps to prevent them.
To apply for graduation, you should obtain a graduation contract from the Registrar's Office two semesters before you plan to graduate. In signing the contract, you are requesting that a diploma be ordered in the name you indicated on the contract. Pay all college charges, including the graduation fee, during your final semester of enrollment.
