Emory Semester Abroad in Ireland

The Emory & Henry College Semester in Dublin, Ireland provides students with the opportunity to study Irish heritage and culture while exploring specific connections between Ireland, Southwest Virginia, and other areas of Appalachia.

Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland and has been a principal city in Ireland for most of its thousand-year history. Split by the River Liffey, Dublin has long served as a vital sea port and still remains the largest port in the country. A vibrant cosmopolitan city, Dublin is filled with rich historical and cultural sites as well a vibrant nightlife.

Students find Dublin extremely accessible and friendly. In this program, students become immersed in Dublin life as they enroll in courses at Dublin City University and spend 10-15 hours per week working in a community organization or business. This experience teaches lessons of place, politics, and activism that transcend national and global boundaries.
