Admissions
E&H Scholarships & Grants

The percentage of donations to the College by Emory & Henry graduates ranks among the top 10 percent of colleges and universities nationwide and says volumes about the high degree of satisfaction Emory & Henry graduates have with their education. The support of E&H alumni translates into the tremendous support for scholarships that are offered to Emory & Henry College's current students.

Emory & Henry College awards merit-based academic scholarships based on GPA and SAT/ACT scores. Scholarships for incoming freshmen range from $8,000 to $14,000 for the Academic Merit Scholarship up to $15,000 for the prestigious Patrick Henry or John Emory Scholarships. The Admissions Office will present accepted applicants' information to the Vice President for Enrollment Management for award. There is also an opportunity for service oriented students with need to apply for the Bonner Scholar Program. See each scholarship or grant program detailed below.

Please note Emory & Henry College awards are for tuition only, are based on full-time enrollment by students each semester and divided equally between fall and spring semesters. If a student is enrolled only for one semester in an academic year, they will receive half of their annual award for that semester. If a student is not full-time at the end of add/drop period each semester, institutional aid will be removed and other aid adjusted depending on level of enrollment. Financial aid will not be changed until the end of add/drop period to allow a student ample time to correct their enrollment. Students planning to be enrolled only part-time should notify the CSA Office in writing of their plans so that their aid can be adjusted ahead of enrollment so that their billing statements will reflect accurate aid. No institutional aid is available for summer term study.

Grants

E&H Access Grant
Emory & Henry Access Grant is a need-based grant to assist students with financial need. Need is determined based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The award is subject to change based on receipt of additional assistance from outside sources which may cover a student's need. E&H Access Grant applies only to tuition. Award will be reduced or possibly eliminated for students enrolled at less than full-time enrollment (12 semester hours per semester). The annual award will be applied half in the fall and half in the spring.

Out-of-State Grant
Emory & Henry College will offer an Out of State Grant to students from other states who do not receive state assistance from Virginia or their home state. Some states like Michigan or Vermont may have state grants which will travel with you to Emory & Henry College. If you are receiving funds from your home state for your attendance at Emory & Henry College, you will not qualify for this grant. The amount of the award will vary from year to year based on available institutional funding.

Endowed and Non-Endowed Scholarships
Many alumni and other generous donors have given substantial funds to Emory & Henry College to assist students in achieving their dream of a college education. Students are not required to file applications for consideration of these scholarships. These scholarships will become the source of funds for other academic merit or need based grants for selected students. Recipients of these scholarships will be notified by either the CSA Office or the Office of Institutional Advancement. They may be asked to write a thank-you note to the donor of their scholarship and attend a benefactors' event.
