Admissions
International Students

Emory & Henry welcomes applications from international students. Below you will find information related to admission and scholarships, as well as what is required to obtain your student visa.

Admission
  1. Complete the International Student Admission Application and send it to the Office of Admissions with a $30 (U.S. dollars) non refundable application fee (no application fee when applying online).

  2. Send official transcripts of all school work you have completed beyond the eighth grade year of school-- that is, official records for the equivalent of the American secondary school grades nine, ten, eleven, and twelve, and for any college or university work you have taken. Typically, you should request the principal officer of your secondary school and of your college (if you have done college work) to send the official records of your study to the Director of Admissions at the Emory & Henry College. To be official, documents must be an original or a certified copy. Copies must be certified after the reproduction has been made.

  3. Send results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if your native language is not English. You must score at least 550 (paper-based TOEFL) or 213 (computer-based TOEFL) or 79 (internet-based TOEFL). If you are proficient in English, you may submit scores from either the SAT I or the ACT. If you submit the SAT I or ACT, you may be considered for merit scholarships.
Scholarships

If you submit the SAT I or ACT, then you may be considered for merit scholarships under the same criteria as domestic students.

If you submit the TOEFL instead of SAT or ACT scores, then you won't be eligible for merit scholarships, but you will receive a $5,000 International Student Grant. You may receive either a merit scholarship or International Student Grant, but not both.

Need-based financial aid is not available for international students. Please note that if you are a permanent resident of the U.S. (green card holder), then you may be eligible for federal and state financial aid.

Required for enrollment:
  1. Complete and submit the Certification of Finances Form, which demonstrates your ability to support the costs of tuition, room, and meals, in addition to the price of round-trip airfare from your native country.

  2. Pay your $400 enrollment deposit

  3. Pay your SEVIS fee. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) now requires the collection of a one-time SEVIS fee of $100 from most F-1 students. You can read more detailed information about the required fee and instructions for the required Form I-901 at the following web site for online payment: www.fmjfee.com or for payment by mail: www.ice.gov/graphics/sevis/pdf/I-901.pdf.The SEVIS fee should be processed by DHS at least 3 business days prior to the consular interview. Fees will not be payable at the consulate.

DHS will issue and mail an official paper receipt (I-797) acknowledging every payment regardless of payment method. Express delivery service for the I-797 receipt may be requested at an additional cost. Anyone who submits an individual fee electronically will be able to print out an electronic receipt immediately at the time of payment for use in advance of the mail delivery of the official paper receipt.

  4. DHS will not refund the SEVIS fee if F-1 students are not granted a visa or choose not to come to the U.S. after their visas are granted.

  5. You must obtain international insurance before you arrive on campus. You must show proof of insurance to the Dean of Students upon arrival on campus. You can find information about international insurance here.
