Summer Bridge Program, a three-week summer experience will provide you with college credits, while introducing you to skills and expectations that you will encounter as a student at Emory & Henry. This will give you a head start in making the transition from high school senior to successful college student. The centerpiece of the Bridge Program is the three-credit world history class, which introduces you to a college level course. In addition, the program includes instruction in developing study skills which are necessary for college success, including:
In addition to working with faculty members in each of these areas, you will work with specially chosen and trained Student Academic Mentors. They will assist you with the academic components of the program, but they will also help you to become oriented to college life outside of class, as well. Our experience shows that students who work with Student Academic Mentors improve their academic performance. Your relationship with your mentor will continue as a support into your first academic year at Emory & Henry.
While this will be an intensive introduction to your college experience, we have also built in time for relaxation, social activities and cultural experiences. You may take advantage of the campus athletic facilities, you may go on an outing sponsored by Emory & Henry’s Outdoor Program, or you may enjoy some of the other recreational opportunities that the area has to offer. You will also become familiar with the campus, faculty and staff members, and fellow students.
The cost for the Summer Bridge Program is $1,470 which includes your room and board, tuition for three academic credits, all books and materials, and co-curricular activities sponsored by the program. A limited number of grants based on financial need will be available. This is, indeed, a valuable opportunity for you to gain a good start in your college career.
