The Roanoke Times' New River Valley section recently (11-30-14) featured an article on the strong work being done by E&H grad Lee Spiegel. According to the article, Lee is fulfilling a dream she once had about training teenagers in a business environment.
The plan is ambitious and exciting. She and her team are renovating the old Draper High School vocational building to be used by students in the community for an aquaponics project. The very cool idea is that talapia ponds are paired with hydroponic agriculture plots. Students will have a chance to run the business and market the products.
Part of the result of the Draper High School renovation is that it will also create space for a community center.
