Small World!

Emory & Henry may be a small school, but alumni show up all over the world...including at random meetings in Spain.

Courtney Williams Park is the librarian for the International School of Tanganyika in Tanzania. She recently was having dinner in Barcelona, Spain, with a group of other international school librarians when the accent of one of the participants caught her attention. Says Courtney: “She had a strong southern accent. I asked where she was from, and she says she's from Southwest Virginia. I tell her I went to Emory & Henry, and she says, SHE DID, TOO!”

And that’s how Courtney met Michelle Andis from Abingdon who got her teaching certification at Emory & Henry in 1996. Michelle is the Head of Libraries for the International School of Amsterdam.
