Who Are E&H Alumni?
Alumni of Emory & Henry are a rare breed because their love for "this good place" is deep and abiding. Routinely alumni refer to a trip to Emory as coming home, and they frequently schedule weddings, family vacations, and even baby arrivals according to the E&H Homecoming date.
E&H alumni are eager to be involved and supportive, and stand ready to serve in any capacity dictated by the college. While, for a variety of factors, percentage of alumni giving has dropped off in the past few years, participation in the annual fund still remains among the highest in the country. Alumni support for campus events and projects remains strong. Opinions about college direction and leadership are loud and plentiful only because alumni care so deeply about the place that shaped their lives and provided life-long friendships and opportunities for learning and service.
E&H Alumni Association
The mission of the E&H Alumni Association is simple: to assist Emory & Henry as it ventures to fulfill the college's vision and mission.
Our overriding mandates are to provide alumni with chances to see and stay in touch with each other, and to provide alumni with opportunities to stay in touch with the college.
The hope is that alumni who are involved and informed are more likely to be supportive, loyal, and generous.
The Alumni Board
The Alumni Association is fortunate to have dedicated group of leaders on the E&H Alumni Board of Directors. Members of the Board of Directors meet three times a year, plus make additional trips back to campus regularly for meetings, events, sports matches, and programs. Their volunteer time on behalf of the college is invaluable. Staff, faculty, students, and parents have all witnessed their good work, and are genuinely touched and impressed by their level of commitment. Their willingness to take a visible leadership role on campus has been deeply appreciated.
Members are currently working on an expansion of this leadership board so that more alumni will feel represented. They are also looking to develop a more formal structure for additional volunteers - identifying more ways to be involved in the life of the college.
Activities and Programs
Activities vary in order to provide a wide range of possibilities for connection to alumni and the college. We're working to provide opportunities for simple participation as well as more involved leadership positions. We constantly seek to identify ways in which to address the needs and current desires of alumni. For instance, we have expanded our use of email in order to reach people where they are and to allow alumni to connect with the college on their own time schedule.
