Fred Selfe Athletic Stadium

In March 2008, Emory & Henry broke ground on the Fred Selfe Athletic Stadium, honoring the memory of a devoted athletic director, 1969 E&H graduate and coach.

Plans for the $4.5 million project include the construction of a field house that will include locker rooms, meeting rooms and office space; major enhancements to the seating areas, including a new press box; the installation of an artificial turf field; the addition of a brick wall to enclose the field and decorative perimeter fencing surrounding the stadium facility; a new scoreboard; and lighting for night competitions.

The stadium provides improved space for football and soccer competitions. It also will accommodate the return of intramural soccer, football and softball and practices for baseball while providing an opportunity for other athletic teams in the community to host competitions and tournaments.

The facility is a testimonial to the values of Fred Selfe, a man for whom community, service and giving back were important. It is a testimonial to the relationship between the College and its alumni and the College and the community that has supported it.
