Information for Visiting Teams

August 1, 2006

To Visiting Athletic Teams:

The Athletic Training Staff at Emory & Henry College would like to extend a warm welcome to each team and all personnel associated with teams who visit E&H for athletic competition. The Athletic Training Room is located in the King Athletic Center. Athletes who need athletic training services will be welcome to visit the Athletic Training Room as early as 2 hours before each competition. The Athletic Training Room opens at 9:30 a.m. for football games. To make your trip to E&H as pleasant as possible, the following services are provided:

• A Certified Athletic Trainer is in attendance at all home competitions. The host ATC is available to assist your traveling ATC, athletic training student, and your athletes.

• Athletic Training Students will be in attendance at all home competitions. These students provide assistance to the host ATC as necessary. If your team is traveling without an ATC or athletic training student, an E&H athletic training student is seated behind your team's bench to act as a liaison between the host ATC and your athletes. Please let them know if you need anything.

• Depending on who travels with your team, your athletes will have varying access to modalities:

  • Traveling with an ATC - access to all modalities
  • Traveling with an Athletic Training Student - access to hydrocollator, ice, and whirlpools with note from ATC.
  • Traveling with no athletic training support - access to hydrocollator, ice, and whirlpools with note from ATC. These teams are provided with an ATC or ATS to provide taping services. Please send an adequately stocked kit.
• Ice, water, cups, ice bags, biohazard bags, an AED and other emergency supplies are available on sidelines at all events. If there are two or more events at the same time, the AED is on the site of the most "at-risk" competition.

• The E&H team orthopedist, Dr. Timothy McGarry, attends all home football games.

• Glade Spring Volunteer Rescue Squad provides ambulance service at all home football games.

• The Athletic Training Staff is available for post-game ice for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour after the end of each contest.

If additional accommodations are needed, please contact me or any ATC before your team arrives on campus. We will do everything possible to accommodate your athletes' needs.
