Emory & Henry College: Basketball

Emory & Henry has built one of the most successful Division III men's basketball programs in the country. In 2004-05 Head Coach Bob Johnson implemented the “Fun n’ Gun Offense�? and ever since the opponents dread facing the Wasps and the crowds love watching this new exciting brand of basketball. This past season (2006-07) the Wasps set a new ODAC scoring record for the second consecutive year as they averaged (109.4) points per game. This average was good enough to rank 3rd nationally. Also this past season the Wasps led the Nation in assists (20.9 apg), ranked 2nd in steals (17.8 spg) and ranked 3rd in 3-pointers – connecting on (17.4) 3-pointers per game.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Bob Johnson, the Wasps have appeared in the NCAA National Championship Tournament five times and reached the "Sweet Sixteen" twice. In addition, the program has produced nine All-Americans, three Old Dominion Athletic Conference Players of the Year, and 16 First Team All-Conference players. Coach Johnson has earned regional Coach of the Year honors three times and is a three-time ODAC Coach of the Year. On top of all this, coach Johnson topped off his 2001-02 season with his 300th career victory. Recent graduate (’04), Justin Call earned First Team Academic All-America honors, was named first-team All-ODAC, ODAC Player of the Year, Virginia College State Player of the Year, NCAA South Region Player of the Year and received the Jostens Trophy (National Player of the Year), the highest honor in Division III men's basketball.
