The Vice President for Enrollment Management oversees the recruitment, selection and financial aid activities to yield a qualified student body that meets the enrollment goals set by the College’s strategic plan. He directs the program of admissions counseling and reviews exceptional admissions cases. He participates in or conducts student recruitment programs with other members of faculty and staff. In addition, he organizes and directs the staff of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid to recruit, select and enroll qualified students. He ensures that applicant data and academic credentials are correctly processed and coordinated with other offices on campus. He specifically oversees the admission of international students.
David Hawsey joined Emory & Henry College as vice president for enrollment management in June 2007. Over the last two decades, David served Albion College, Drexel University, Juniata College, Penn State University, and Pacific Lutheran University. His responsibilities have included admissions, alumni relations, development, financial aid, marketing and retention planning. A Navy veteran, David worked in corporate communications, public relations, and decision support software development prior to his career in higher education. He is co-author of America’s Elite Colleges: The Smart Applicant’s Guide to the Ivy League and Other Top Colleges (Sept. 2001; Random House/Princeton Review), and founder and former co-owner of CollegeConfidential.com, one of the largest college internet search engines in the world. Mr. Hawsey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in humanities and communications and a master’s degree in business administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He lives with his wife (Joan), three children, and numerous pets in Abingdon, where he is active as a Boy Scout leader.
