College Celebrates Second Annual Give Thanks Day

News

On Thursday, March 29, Emory & Henry College students, faculty and staff will participate in the College’s second annual Give Thanks Day: Thanksgiving in March, coordinated by the Office of Institutional Advancement.

The event highlights contributors to the E&H Annual Fund, which supports five major areas of the campus community: student achievement, faculty and staff, campus life, athletics and classroom technology.

During the event, students, faculty and staff can give thanks to Emory & Henry supporters by participating in a “thank you” note writing campaign in Van Dyke Dining Hall and Martin Brock Student Center, where they’ll write notes of appreciation to donors of the College. Institutional Advancement staff will be handing out buttons to those who write notes. Students, faculty and staff will also have an opportunity to contribute to the E&H Annual Fund through the Faculty & Staff Campaign and the E&H Class Challenge.

“We want to create an environment with a spirit of giving at Emory & Henry,” said Ryan Roorda, Director of the Annual Fund for the institution. “This College has so many generous supporters, and it’s easy for students and the community to forget how much this College truly depends upon those donors. Let’s take a day to say ‘thank you’ to these folks.”

Roorda said the purpose of the event is not only to allow the College to give thanks for its supporters but also to serve as an educational tool.

“If we can teach students about the value of philanthropy and the importance of the Annual Fund to this College, then we will have achieved our goals,” Roorda said.
