Republican incumbent Congressman Morgan Griffith and Democratic challenger Anthony Flaccavento faced off in a debate in front of a live audience on Thursday, October 18th at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon. The League of Women Voters sponsored the debate, along with WCYB-TV and The Bristol Herald Courier.

Emory & Henry’s Professor of Mass Communications Dr. Teresa Keller moderated the debate and presented audience questions for half of the 60-minute event. During the second half of the program, News 5 Anchor Julie Newman and Bristol Herald Courier reporter David McGee each asked questions.
