Van Dyke Student Center, Board of Visitors Lounge Saturday, January 14, 10:00am
The second Annual Souper Bowl non-perishable food drive will begin in Van Dyke at 10 a.m. Volunteers will gather to assemble bags in the Board of Visitors Lounge that will be put on doors in the office of the academic buildings. In a few days, the food will be collected and combined with food gathered in the many bins located across campus throughout the month of January. Food will be accepted until Wed., Feb. 8.
Emory & Henry is participating in this venture as part of a larger project sponsored by Feeding America, who has challenged colleges and universities in the area to gather at least 400 pounds of food. The collected food will be weighed on February 9 and the winning college will be given the Souper Bowl cup.
Another group of volunteers will gather in front of Van Dyke at 9:45 AM and ride together to Loaves and Fishes Chilhowie Area Food Pantry. There, volunteers will work inside the pantry cleaning, loading shelves, organizing food and other products.
Both events will end by 2 p.m.
