The Document Center Assistant for Emory & Henry College was recently honored by her fellow employees as the April recipient of the Blue & Gold Staff Award.
The recipient, Debra Anderson, has served the College for 14 years as a member of the Business Office staff.
The Blue & Gold Staff Award was created to recognize outstanding Emory & Henry employees who go above and beyond the call of duty -- not only in their respective positions, but in the College community as well.
Prior to coming to Emory & Henry, Anderson was a bookkeeper for the Washington County School System.
“Receiving this award is an honor and I truly appreciate it,” said Anderson. “I really enjoy working at Emory & Henry College and I thank God everyday for my job, family, and friends. “
Anderson’s son, Travis Sullins, graduated from Emory & Henry in 2010 with an accounting degree. Her daughter, Heather Sullins, is pursuing a career in nursing.
When asked about the importance of the Blue & Gold Staff Award, President Reichard said, “It’s so important to me that we support all of our employees. The quality of the learning environment here at the College is very dependent on the work of the staff. They influence our students in a multitude of ways, and it’s so important that we provide support to them.”
Anderson enjoys photography and oil painting (you can see her art on display in the Document Center). You will often find her spending time outdoors in a number of ways including hiking, gardening, and biking the Creeper Trail. She also enjoys volunteering, and has been active with the E&H Service Plunges. Anderson is a member of the Highlands Fellowship Church.
If you know an Emory & Henry staff member who has performed exceptionally in his or her role and would like to nominate that employee for the Blue & Gold Staff Award, contact the Human Resources Office by the last business day of each month.
