Support WEHC, your College, Community Radio Station
Free public radio is anything but free, and your college and community radio station WEHC 90.7 FM needs your financial help during its ongoing spring fund raiser. Online giving is only a click away; just make sure to designate your gift to WEHC on the drop down box. WEHC is a small organization, and it is difficult for the station to mount a major fundraising drive like larger institutions throughout the country.
WEHC produces 44 local programs with 48 programmers addressing a wide variety of topics and presenting a wide variety of music, sports, weather and other special events.
WEHC gives a voice to the community through programs like 30-Minute Appointment (hosted by family physician Dr. Mark Handy), Pet Appointment (pet healthcare with area veterinarians), Legal Matters (hosted by the Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society), Art Speaks (staffed by the William King Regional Arts Center), Theatre Matters (produced by the Barter Theatre) and the Washington County Connection (a public affairs show presented by Washington County Supervisor Nicole Price).
“We hope listeners find value in the breadth of powerful community issues with intellectual discussion by knowledgeable professionals,” said General Manager Teresa Keller. “If people value this listening option, we would love for them to help maintain this service with a financial contribution of any size that they think they can afford.”
WEHC is proud to present Radio IQ through a partnership with the Virginia Tech Foundation (WVTF). Radio IQ is the only all-news public radio station in central and western Virginia featuring the BBC news and NPR talk programs. You can hear Radio IQ from 11 p.m. until 1 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. weekdays on WEHC. Weekend hours differ slightly, depending on the College's sports schedule.
The WEHC spring fund raiser is running concurrent to the WVTF fundraiser, but listeners need to know that the cost of bringing you this partnership comes with a fee. Radio IQ is delivered to you through the WEHC transmitter and tower, and the 9,000 watt operation comes with its own expenses.
If you would like to make a donation you can do so by giving online; by mailing your check to WEHC c/o Emory & Henry College, P.O. Box 947, Emory, VA 24327; or by calling the radio station at (276) 944-6593 during regular business hours (Mon. to Fri., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The spring fundraising drive will conclude on Friday, March 11 at 5 p.m. but donations are appreciated throughout the year.
