Emory & Henry Announces New Personalized Transfer Program

News

Emory & Henry College has just launched the Personalized Transfer Plan (PTP), which is designed to help students in Virginia community colleges make a smooth transition from their associate's degree to full-time studies at Emory & Henry.

Emory & Henry College is already a member of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) Guaranteed Admission program, and honors the A.A. or A.S. degree from any VCCS member school. The Personalized Transfer Program provides added value to the agreement by helping students plan their classes at their local community college in preparation for a smooth transfer of credits toward their major.

Additionally, E&H transfer counselors will help students understand what specific merit and need-based financial aid sources will be available to them prior to enrolling. Finally, each student will have a detailed, course-by-course schedule worked out, and will know when they will graduate from Emory & Henry.

"This is a dramatic step forward in our efforts to help students at community colleges transition to Emory & Henry," said David Hawsey, vice president of enrollment management at the College. "We understand more students than ever have chosen community colleges because of current economic challenges, but still intend to transfer to a four-year program and finish their degree."

Hawsey added, "We want to go beyond the state-wide Guaranteed Admission Program by letting transfer students know exactly what courses are needed to finish their four-year degree, how long it will take, and how much their investment will be. We have a robust scholarship and grant program for transfer students, yet students really want to know the bottom line before they even apply. We can accommodate their need for this information through our personalized and simplified approach to transferring to Emory & Henry."

Emory & Henry College, one of 40 schools highlighted in Loren Pope's nationally acclaimed book "Colleges That Change Lives," is listed among the top 100 private colleges in America by Forbes Magazine, is one of six schools nationally to win the 2009 President's Award for Civic Engagement, and is ranked "25th Safest School" by www.StateUniversity.com."
