Memorial Chapel Monday, March 25, 7:30pm
The Emory & Henry College Office of Spiritual Life presents Sarah Trotter Tullock of Chattanooga, Tenn., in a piano recital Monday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Memorial Chapel on the E&H campus.
Tullock graduated from Emory & Henry College in 2009 with a bachelor of arts degree in church music. She has studied the Kodaly method of music instruction at the University of Tennessee, graduating with a master's degree in music education in 2011.
She currently serves as a K-5 music teacher for Hamilton County Schools and is the director of traditional music for Ooltwah United Methodist Church, where she also teaches private voice and piano lessons.
Tullock's compositions and arrangements combine musical styles from all parts of her life -- folk song, art song and hymnody -- along with influences such as Etta James, Regina Spektor and J.J. Heller. She has been composing songs and performing them for two years. In 2012 she performed at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Abingdon.
While enrolled as an E&H student, she served as choir director at Chilhowie United Methodist Church in Chilhowie.
The event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact the Office of Spiritual Life at 276-944-6842. Emory & Henry is located at Exit 26 along I-81.
