Emory & Henry College is one of approximately 250 institutions nationwide and 11 in Virginia that have been named to the 2012-13 edition of Colleges of Distinction.
The electronic college guidebook recognizes institutions that excel in four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes.
Colleges of Distinction features colleges that share excellent reputations among high school guidance counselors and education professional as well as employers and graduate school, according to the publication’s eidtors. “Their classrooms are among the most exciting in the country; their programs are some of the most innovative.”
According to the guidebook, “Emory & Henry students are not just engaged in the realm of academia; they are engaged with the world. The Appalachian Center for Community Service establishes partnerships between local rural community organizations and the campus community.”
Meanwhile, according to Colleges of Distinction, “The study abroad program at Emory & Henry encourages students to expand their horizons by studying internationally.”
