Meighan Sharp, a former assistant academic dean at Emory & Henry College, has been selected for inclusion in “Best New Poets 2010.”

Sharp was chosen from a nation-wide competition of poets who have not published a book of poetry, and further distinguishes herself by being one of the two poets selected from Virginia.

Meighan and her poem,"Habitats," will be included in an anthology of the winner's poetry. Meighan and her family are currently residing in Roanoke, Va., where she is pursuing an M.F.A at Hollins University.

Her husband, Scott Tate, is working on his Ph.D. at Virginia Tech and their son, Toby, will be starting first grade this Fall.
