Founders Day is Emory & Henry’s annual celebration recognizing the establishment of the College in 1836 and its founders. During the event, citations will be presented to local and regional leaders, and Distinguished Alumni Awards given to outstanding alumni.
The speaker will be the Rev. Charles Maynard, District Superintendent for the Maryville District, Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Maynard will speak about the College’s historical connections to its founding organization, the Methodist Church, and Bishop John Emory, namesake for Emory & Henry.
Rev. Maynard is a 1977 graduate of Emory & Henry College who received his master of divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1979. His wife is Janice (Scott) Maynard, E&H Class of 1977.
At 2:00 p.m., The College will unveil new statues of Bishop John Emory and Governor Patrick Henry as part of the 175th anniversary celebration.
