Established in 2003 by Eleanor Hall Hutton, the Wallace-Thomas-Selfe Travel Award memorializes the outstanding service of three dedicated long-time E&H employees: R.G. “Bob” Wallace, who was employed with the Physical Plant for 23 years; Dave Thomas, a 39-year veteran of the Athletic Department; and Coach Fred Selfe, who served the College for 29 years as a teacher, coach and athletic director.

This year’s recipient is Sherry McMurray, an employee with the college for the past 25 years. McMurray was recently promoted to lead custodian with responsibilities at the Blakemore House.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for my time here at Emory & Henry,” said McMurray. “We are so lucky to work with these great kids every day.”

This annual award is given to a member of the Emory & Henry Physical Plant staff to provide opportunities for travel. The award is given to the employee with seniority in terms of length of continuous service. It includes a certificate and a check for $200.
