A HVAC technician was recently honored as the recipient of the Blue & Gold Staff Award for the month of September.
The recipient, Mike Taylor, has served the College for seven years as a member of the Facilities Department staff.
The Blue & Gold Staff Award was created to recognize outstanding Emory & Henry employees who go above and beyond the call of duty -- not only in their respective positions, but in the College community as well.
“Every single day is a full workload, but I love the family atmosphere you find among the employees here,” said Taylor.
Taylor was honored for his devout dedication to his responsibilities of upkeeping the HVAC units around campus and the other dirty jobs that are assigned to him.
“On many occasions, Mike is called to come to campus at all hour of the dary or night, including weekends,” said the individual nominating Taylor. “He is willing to put his life on hold when the college has a need.”
The winner of the Blue & Gold Staff Award has the option of either taking a cash prize or a personal day off. For Taylor, that decision was made much easier by his love of hunting.”
“I’ll take the day off,” exclaimed Taylor. “It’s hunting season.”
When he’s not hunting or fishing, Taylor says he plays plenty of slow-pitch softball.
If you know an Emory & Henry staff member who has performed exceptionally in his or her role and would like to nominate that employee for the Blue & Gold Staff Award, contact the Human Resources Office by the last business day of each month.
