A Financial Aid Counselor for Emory & Henry College was recently honored by her fellow employees as the December recipient of the Blue & Gold Staff Award.
The recipient, Scarlett Blevins, has served the College for 12 years as a member of the Financial Aid staff. Blevins was praised for her ability to remain calm even during the most stressful times. She constantly goes the extra mile for the students with whom she works.
The Blue & Gold Staff Award was created to recognize outstanding Emory & Henry employees who go above and beyond the call of duty -- not only in their respective positions, but in the College community as well.
Prior to becoming a staff member at Emory & Henry, Blevins was a work study in the financial aid office while she was a student here. Once she graduated, she was offered a part-time position and that eventually became full-time.
“This award brings me such validation. I know that what I do for the college does make a difference,” said Blevins.
Scarlett and her husband, Kevin, have two children, Bailey (age 3) and Tanner (18 months). When she’s not spending time with her two little ones, Scarlett enjoys reading a good book.
“Even after 12 years here, I still enjoy what I do at the College,” said Blevins.
When asked about the importance of the Blue & Gold Staff Award, President Reichard said, “It’s so important to me that we support all of our employees. The quality of the learning environment here at the College is very dependent on the work of the staff. They influence our students in a multitude of ways, and it’s so important that we provide support to them.”
If you know an Emory & Henry staff member who has performed exceptionally in his or her role and would like to nominate that employee for the Blue & Gold Staff Award, contact the Human Resources Office by the last business day of each month.
