American ceramist Lynn Duryea is known for her minimalist sculpture, incorporating references to architectural, mechanical and industrial elements. In her austere but intriguing work, the materials used are important in their own right, but also telling of the historical and emotional content of the pieces. The objects are evocative of abandoned sites of human activity, generating feelings of melancholy and stillness. The Artalk is in conjunction with Duryea’s exhibit in The 1912 Gallery from Tuesday, January 15 - Saturday February 9, 2013.
