Monday, July 29
Emory & Henry College joins numerous other private colleges across Virginia in welcoming rising high school juniors and seniors, along with their families, to participate in Virginia Private College Week from July 29 through Aug. 3. The week-long event is hosted by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV).
Emory & Henry College faculty and staff will offer campus tours and information sessions about admissions, financial aid and academic programs. College officials will also address numerous ways to make a private college education affordable.
Students who visit at least three institutions during the week will receive three application fee waivers. Students may use these waivers to apply to any three CICV colleges for free.
Sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 29 through Aug. 2, and at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. For more information about Emory & Henry College, including how to apply for admission, visit www.ehc.edu.
“Visiting campuses in person is one of the most important steps in the college search process,” explains Robert Lambeth, president of CICV. “I encourage parents to explore which college will be the best fit for their son or daughter, and I want to reassure them that a quality education at a Virginia private college is affordable and within reach.”
In addition to its continued inclusion in Loren Pope’s publication, Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About Colleges, Emory & Henry has received accolades from such widely-known publications as Newsweek and Washington Monthly. Newsweek ranked Emory & Henry fourth among all colleges and universities in the nation in providing service learning and community service and the Washington Monthly ranked the College among the top 30 liberal arts colleges and universities in the nation.
Emory & Henry has also been honored with the distinguished President’s Award for Community Service, the highest national recognition given to a college or university for service learning. Emory & Henry was selected from approximately 800 institutions competing for the award and became the first Virginia school to win the award since it was developed.
