The Emory & Henry women’s volleyball team will host a “Dig Pink” event as the team welcomes Southern Virginia on Thursday, September 29 at 7 p.m. inside the King Center on the Emory & Henry College campus. Admission to the match will be free, but donations will be accepted and appreciated.
“Dig Pink” events are sponsored by the Side-Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches in working toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Side-Out supports teams nationwide in their volleyball tournaments, clinics and other fundraising efforts. The foundation offers practical support for fundraising in addition to educational material for participants in order to help them become effective advocates for breast cancer. Money raised will be given to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether it be in the form of research, medical services or compassionate support.
The E&H volleyball team would like to dedicate the event to coaches, fans, athletes, parents, and Emory community members who have been affected by cancer in any way. Fans are encouraged to wear pink, and there will be several prize drawings and halftime activities in which to participate.
