A Facilities & External Programming Coordinator for Emory & Henry College was recently honored by ¬¬-her fellow employees as the July recipient of the Blue & Gold Staff Award.
The recipient, Angie Werth, has served the College for 10 years as a member of the Business and Finance Office staff.
The Blue & Gold Staff Award was created to recognize outstanding Emory & Henry employees who go above and beyond the call of duty -- not only in their respective positions, but in the College community as well.
Werth was employed with McBee Systems, a business forms printing plant, as an Order Entry Supervisor for 17 years prior to coming to Emory & Henry. She worked directly with a sales force of over 200 representatives throughout the country to process orders for small business entities.
Colleagues have praised Werth for her recent work in helping organize the Appalachian Trail Conservancy Biennial Conference that featured over 950 people over a weeklong event on campus. The conference was one of the largest group events ever hosted on campus and involved several meetings for the 2 ½ years prior to the conference.
“I appreciate that the College recognizes our staff for their dedicated work and efforts,” Werth said. “I have been involved with Summer Conference for 5 years now and each year we work with new groups that present new challenges.”
Werth has been married to her husband David for 28 years and have two grown children. Jason lives in Boone, NC and Julie is a current student here at Emory & Henry College, pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. Her hobbies include family, church activities and occasional travel.
When asked about the importance of the Blue & Gold Staff Award, President Reichard said, “It’s so important to me that we support all of our employees. The quality of the learning environment here at the College is very dependent on the work of the staff. They influence our students in a multitude of ways, and it’s so important that we provide support to them.”
If you know an Emory & Henry staff member who has performed exceptionally in his or her role and would like to nominate that employee for the Blue & Gold Staff Award, contact the Human Resources Office by the last business day of each month.
