FERPA: Protecting Your Students - And Your Reputation Through FERPA Training
LeRoy Rooker is scheduled to visit Emory & Henry College on Monday, March 16, 2015. Rooker will host an informational session at 11 a.m. in Wiley Auditorium. This session is open to the E&H community. E&H encourages faculty, staff and students to attend this session. Lyceum credit is being offered.
Rooker will hold an informational session titled, “Protecting Your Students - And Your Reputation Through FERPA Training." Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal policy that has been implemented to protect all students’ academic privacy. Protecting a student’s academic privacy is a major priority of Emory & Henry College. Academic records, financial aid records, student health records as well as student life records are all protected under FERPA.
Rooker is the nation's leading authority on the FERPA. As the former Director of the Department of Education’s Family Policy Compliance Office (FPCO) for 21 years, he administered laws and policies designed to help protect the rights of America’s 58 million students. Mr. Rooker is now a senior Fellow at AACRAO (the American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers). Mr. Rooker has published the FERPA Guide and speaks nationally on preserving the privacy of student records.
