The Symphony of the Mountains Chamber Ensemble will visit Emory & Henry College at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, in Memorial Chapel on the college campus.

Tickets are $12 at the door and $10 in advance.

Since 1946 Symphony of the Mountains has been at the center of artistic life in the Mountain Empire. The symphony, which is the only fully-professional orchestra to serve the region, is an organization reflective of the many modes of artistic expression that have always permeated this region.

The unique opportunity to hear a string sextet live performance is a rare learning experience for music students at Emory & Henry. The audience will be treated to the high quality symphony performing Bach’s Partita in D minor, Ysaye’s Sonata Op. 27, No. 3 Ballade, and Brahms’s Sextet No. 2 in G major, Op. 36.

Members of the ensemble are Sean Claire, Ilia Steinschneider, Gina Caldwell, and Eric Koontz, all of whom play violins, and Matthew Wilkinson and Jeanine Wilkinson, whose instruments are violoncellos.
