Board of Visitors Lounge - Van Dyke Hall

Caleb Weintraub’s paintings, sculptures and digitally produced works are a riot of re-imagining that draw inspiration from art history, literature, pop culture and the news. His exhibition entitled Un-plain Air will be on display in the 1912 Gallery from Tuesday, Feb. 17, to Saturday, March 21.
This exhibition concentrates on his digital images in which incongruous plants and animals exist side by side. Climates are theoretical. Children reign. Bits and pieces from the past, from politics, and from religion are stitched together. He dreams up a world that is the result of our civilization, saturated with information, exhilarating, disturbing and opaque.
Weintraub is an assistant professor at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. In conjunction with the exhibition, Weintraub will host an Artalk on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. in the Board of Visitors Lounge of the Van Dyke Center.
