The 21st President of Emory & Henry College, Jake Schrum, spent his first official day on the job getting to know E&H employees and the extended college community.
Starting bright and early with doughnuts in hand, President Schrum paid a visit to the E&H Facilities Department to share his thoughts on the future of the college and answer questions from those in attendance.
Schrum spent most of the morning visiting offices across the E&H campus, before heading to Marion, Va. to meet with town leaders and tour the location for what is expected to become the new Emory & Henry College of Health Sciences.
Schrum previously served as president of Southwestern University in Texas. Emory & Henry is the third university he has served as president.
Schrum is the second former Southwestern University president to serve as president of Emory & Henry. William Carrington Finch, who served as president of Southwestern from 1949 to 1961, was president of Emory & Henry from 1965 to 1970.
Schrum's wife, Jane, and their two dogs have moved with the president to begin life on the E&H campus.
