Emory & Henry celebrated Saturday the naming of its football field in honor of the Nicewonder family, which has provided generous philanthropic support to the College and its athletic program.

Members of the Nicewonder family were honored during half-time ceremonies of the E&H homecoming football game. During the ceremonies the College’s football field at Fred Selfe Stadium was officially named “Nicewonder Field.”
Emory & Henry President Jake Schrum presented a plaque to Don and Etta Nicewonder, who were accompanied by Kevin Nicewonder, Kim Nicewonder, and Dr. Bernie Tisdale. The plaque, a copy of which will be mounted near the field, reads, “Dedicated in appreciation of Don and Etta Nicewonder and J.D. and Lorraine Nicewonder for their extraordinary philanthropy supporting Emory & henry College Athletics.”
Schrum thanked the Nicewonders for their remarkably generous and on-going philanthropic support of Emory & Henry College during the past 15 years. The Nicewonders have contributed significant charitable gifts to the expansion of the King (athletic) Center, the renovation of Selfe Stadium and, most recently, to Intermont Equestrian, essentially enabling that program to be acquired by the College.
