The Office of Spiritual Life is pleased to announce that Sharon Wiley Wright has been hired as the College's Associate Chaplain.  Rev. Wright earned a BA in History and Religion from Emory & Henry in 1994 and a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 2000.  While serving as a US2 with the United Methodist Church from 1994 - 96, she worked under the direction of the Chaplain at the University of Puget Sound as a campus minister.  Rev. Wright was ordained an Elder in the Holston Conference in 2002.  Her pastoral appointments have included Madam Russell (Saltville, Va.), Tate's Chapel (Chilhowie, Va.), State Street (Bristol, Va.), and Oakland (Galax, Va.). Sharon is married to Greg Wright. They live in Abingdon, Va. with their two children Shelley (6) and Shane (4).

The part-time position of Associate Chaplain was created to assist with the work of the Office of Spiritual Life as Mary K. Briggs, College Chaplain, directs "Defining Moments," a program funded by the General Board of Higher Education's Young Clergy Initiative.  "Defining Moments" will work to nurture the call to ministry in young people and increase the number of young clergy in the United Methodist Church.  Rev. Wright's primary work will be advising Spiritual Life student groups and coordinating various programming.  Wright can be contacted at ts?%HDO`j[Mk^5{]#[hk.k+&DwPD-tDtq or ext. 6197.  Her office is located in Memorial Chapel, Room 202.
