The presidents of Northeast State Community College and Emory & Henry College signed an agreement today that seeks to ease the transfer of students from the Tennessee community college to the four-year liberal arts college in Southwest Virginia.

E&H President Jake Schrum and Northeast State President Janice H. Gilliam also signed an agreement that specifically addresses the requirements for transfer students seeking a degree in mass communications.

“This specific program agreement is very important because it helps align two very strong programs in mass communications and helps Northeast State students to plan early for a seamless transition to a four-year degree in mass communications,” according to Mary Bolt, E&H director of transfer admissions.

According to the terms of the general admission agreement signed Monday, Emory & Henry will guarantee admission to NeSCC students who achieve associate of arts or associate of science degrees and who have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and higher.

Eligible students may apply up to 62 transferable semester hours from NeSCC toward the minimum of 120 semester hours required for a bachelor of arts degree and 124 hours for a bachelor of science degree at Emory & Henry.
