Enrollment at Emory & Henry College has climbed to a record high this fall thanks to success in both undergraduate and graduate student recruitment.
Total E&H fall enrollment stands at 1,117—a 7.6 percent increase over the number of students registered for the fall of 2014 when 1,038 students were enrolled. The number tops the previous recruitment record of 1,101 set in 2005.
The total enrollment for the year includes 1,024 undergraduates, up from 1012 undergraduates last year and the second highest undergraduate enrollment in the history of the college. The record undergraduate enrollment of 1,027 was set in 2005.
The total enrollment number also includes a record enrollment of 93 graduate students. This number grew dramatically since last year thanks largely to the launch of a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) at the E&H School of Health Sciences in Marion, Va.
The year’s recruitment success represents a third straight year of enrollment growth for the College. Administrators attribute the growth to the expanding awareness among prospective students of Emory & Henry’s educational quality both locally as well as in expanding markets beyond Virginia.
Emory & Henry offers a unique educational experience that is centered on our students’ passions and desires.Dave Voskuil Vice President for Enrollment Management
“Regionally and nationally, at Emory & Henry we have worked to set ourselves apart from other colleges with a project-based education delivered by a renowned faculty resulting in quality, hands-on experiences that lead to student accomplishment.”
Also contributing to the improved enrollment have been major enhancements in recent years to residence halls, classroom buildings and athletic facilities. In addition, student recruitment has benefitted from the popularity of programs in such areas as environmental studies, civic engagement, equine studies, the arts and pre-health.
“Our students enjoy a unique, student-centered educational experience from an award-winning faculty that rivals any campus in the state and beyond,” Voskuil said. “A strategic enrollment plan, combined with additions to the academic program and enhancements to our campus and facilities, is supporting our enrollment growth . We are excited by what the future holds for Emory & Henry.”
