The Emory & Henry College Department of Theatre is proud to announce a new Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in four areas of specialization beginning this academic year.
Students will be able to complete B.F.A. degrees in acting, directing, musical theatre and production, and design. The department will continue to offer a broad-based bachelor of arts (B.A.) degree in theatre along with a theatre minor.
B.F.A. degrees are considered the standard for professional education in the theatre. Institutions offering a B.F.A. are usually considered to be of the highest caliber in theatre training. “This has been a long time coming,” said Department Chair Daniel Wheeler. “We have been offering high quality B.A. degrees for some time that rival B.F.A.s offered by other colleges. This will allow us to compete on a national scale and call some positive attention to the high quality work we have been doing for years here.”

The rapidly growing department has recently moved into the new Woodrow W. McGlothlin Center for the Arts, a state-of-the-art facility that houses a proscenium theatre and concert hall, a black box theatre, an art gallery, and a radio station along with a full compliment of staging shops.
Currently faculty in the Department include Department Chair Daniel Wheeler (production and design), Dr. Kelly Bremner (directing), Jeremiah Downes (musical theatre), Jeremy Hilgert (acting), and Annalee Tull (dance).
