Emory & Henry students with an idea for a new business in Washington County are encouraged to participate in the third annual Washington County Business Challenge Contest.

For this first time, this annual contest will provide a $5,000 grant to a college student with a start-up business plan and who is willing to enhance his or her business management skills.

Each student participant must attend business training classes that will be held over the course of six weeks at The Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator in Abingdon. The classes, which run from Jan. 26 to March 1, begin at 6 p.m. each day. The contest will conclude with a presentation of the business plan before a panel of judges.
