On Wednesday, February 24, faculty and staff are invited to create handmade ceramic bowls which will be sold as part of an upcoming fundraiser to benefit Mary’s Lunch Box, a local initiative aimed at relieving hunger among our local school children.  Manda Remmen, E&H art instructor will provide a hands-on tutorial for participants from 4-7 p.m. in the 3D Studio Building on campus.  The completed bowls will be fired the following week so that participants can return on Wednesday, March 2, from 4-7 p.m. to glaze their bowls.

The fundraiser, Empty Bowls, set for Thursday, March 17, is sponsored by the Appalachian Center for Civic Innovation, the Bonner Scholars Program and Sodexo.  A dinner of soup and salad will be served from 5-8 p.m. in the McGlothlin Center for the Arts.  For a suggested donation of $10, attendees will receive dinner and a handmade ceramic bowl.  More than 100 bowls have already been made by Bonner Scholars and students from the ceramics program for this event.  All proceeds from this event go to support Mary’s Lunch Box, a program of Meadowview United Methodist Church.
