Biography

Dr. Bier is a field geologist with interests in tectonics, structural geology, petrology, environmental geology, and science education. Her research locations have included the South Mountains of North Carolina and the Alaska Range and Talkeetna Mountains of Alaska. She was a park ranger at Lava Beds National Monument and has taught field camp in the Canadian Cordillera and in the western U.S. (Idaho, Montana, and Utah). Since arriving at Emory & Henry, she has taught Physical Geology and Environmental Geology, which are both field-intensive courses.
