Christopher Qualls

Professor of Psychology Psychology

R. Christopher Qualls, Ph.D. holds Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Memphis, a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University, and a Bachelor’s degree from David Lipscomb College. He has held previous positions as Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean (Emory & Henry), Department Chair of Psychology (Emory & Henry) and Clinical Director of Agape
(Nashville, Tenn.). He is a consulting psychologist for Mount Rogers Community Services Board and Highlands Pediatrics. He was the recipient of the 2004 Excellence in Teaching Award from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church and the 2008 Hope Award for Faculty from the Appalachian Center for Community Service.

His publications and presentations focus on issues related to psychotherapy, particularly the treatment of childhood disorders. He is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of child and adolescent psychological disorders and serves as the Pre-Medical Advisor at Emory & Henry College.
