An eighth-generation Southwest Virginian, Josh von Castle grew up in Meadowview, Virginia. He is one of three live-in professionals at Emory & Henry College where he serves as the Director of Student Activities and the Area Coordinator for Hickory, Elm, Sullins, Matthews, and Carriger Halls. Josh supervises student leaders serving as Resident and Head Resident Advisors. He also works closely with many of the College's special interest groups, particularly the Emory Activities Board, which provides entertaining and educational campus events for the college community. During his time with the College, Josh has also been active in diversity and inclusion efforts on campus while serving on institutional committees and working with student organizations to make Emory & Henry College an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming place. Before serving in his current capacity, Josh was an Admissions Counselor for the College serving the Southwest Virginia area and focusing on recruitment strategies for the Visual and Performing Arts.

Josh graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and English from Emory & Henry College in 2007 and will complete a Master of Arts in Community and Organizational Leadership through the Appalachian Center for Civic Engagement on campus during the summer of 2016. His passion is for Student Affairs with a focus on multicultural student experiences, student faith experiences, and student leadership.
